Spraying emulsion paint??

Slightly off topic, I know, but related...

Does anyone know if standard emulsion can be sprayed onto a wall. I need
to spray a large area of papered wall as a base for a mural, but the
area is too large to airbrush so I will use a car spray gun. I guess
Emulsion is only an acrylic based paint so should be OK. Can anyone who
has done this, or something similar offer any advice/tips on what paint
to use, and how much it might need thinning etc for a newby?

Many thanks,
Tom.

Do it ALL the time. Thin it with warm water if your going to use a
Siphon type gun. Gravity feed would be better. The best is a
pressure system. With that you don't need to thin it as much. A quick
pressure set up is to use a garden sprayer " Hudson " or " Chapan "
adapted to the guns in-take fitting, this lets you shoot latex (
emulsion in UK) with out much thinning. Acuspray makes a HVLP gun
that pressurizes the cup. Make sure you have a gun with stainless
parts or break it down and clean and oil as soon as you're done. If
this were just a one-time wall project a normal " Binks #7 " type gun
would work just fine. OH use at least a dust mask.

I've sprayed latex paint through an airbrush too (HP-C). All it needed
was some water for thinning it for a reasonable viscosity. This should
be pretty easy with any bigger gun.

Beware the overspray which can be huge, especially if a non-HVLP
gun is used at a high pressure.

Great - thanks.
I will give it a go at the weekend and see how it goes.
